Adventure Wedding Session in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

The stars aligned perfectly for this wonderful adventurous wedding session in Utah. Beth & Austin live in Utah, but were getting married in our old hometown of Spokane, Washington. We were unable to shoot their wedding in Spokane since we were already booked for their date, but we were able to meet up with them in Utah the week before their wedding while we were on a camping trip! We wandered about the gorgeous, massively underrated Capitol Reef National Park with them as a summer thunderstorm rolled in over the horizon, giving us the most dramatic, lovely lighting to work with for their wedding photos.

Ever since we saw Capitol Reef on our first trip through the area last fall, we were enchanted and promised ourselves we had to come back. Luckily, Beth and Austin wanted a bit of adventure for their wedding portraits, and loved the idea of visiting a National Park they hadn't yet explored in their backyard. We all had a good time braving the crazy intense wind at the top of this ridge (Beth's hair did some amazing acrobatics, scroll down for photo evidence), but we did manage to escape the impending rainstorm before heading out to our campsite for the night. This Capitol Reef wedding session is one of my favorites we've ever shot. Getting to play around in an entirely new landscape in such interesting weather was so inspiring. We can't wait until our next set of adventures in the Southwest this fall, when we're headed to the Grand Canyon for another pre-wedding adventure!
