If you can’t tell already, we’re big fans of making your wedding day your own. Skipping out on whatever seems stressful and and making your wedding day *your* kind of day is always what we encourage our couples (and everyone else!) to do. So when I heard these two wanted something a little different from your typical wedding photos, I was absolutely down for whatever they had in mind, and we loved every minute of it. Kate made her own wedding dress, her veil, and her bouquet (because she is a DIY queen), and they had a tiny, intimate wedding at the small, historic Cordelia church outside of Moscow, Idaho, with only about a dozen people in a attendance.
And we weren’t there for any of it. Yep, we just met them the day before their wedding for pictures! They didn’t really want or need a whole day of wedding coverage from us, but they knew they wanted beautiful portraits together and they knew they loved our work, so we decided on shooting a bridal session before their wedding instead! We were able to take our time making beautiful portraits at their venue in the best sunset light with no stress or timelines, and we all had an amazing time. These two were so fun and down to wander through whatever fields and crazy spots I found, and I loved that they weren’t afraid to make their wedding what they truly wanted.
We loved the experience of having a designated wedding portrait session instead of trying to find time in the midst of a busy wedding day, and I’m gonna suggest it to literally everyone now.
