Golden Larch Alpine Lake Engagement Session

If you've been around the Washington hiking community for long enough, you know about larch madness. There's this particularly beautiful type of tree that lives waaaay high up in the alpine here in Washington. It's normally just a standard-looking evergreen for most of the year. But during the fall, for a few magical moments, the larches turn a bright golden yellow, before these trees actually shed their needles like their deciduous cousins in a spectacular fall show. Brenda & Brandon wanted their engagement session to be in the middle of this unusual, beautiful phenomenon, and I knew just the place. While the popularity of the larches and their short viewing season mean that otherwise quiet trails are flooooooded with a sea of on-lookers, we still managed to carve out a pretty secluded, quiet experience for these two on one of the most gorgeous hikes in all of Washington. It's safe to say that I entirely get what people go nuts for larch season now, it's really a sight to behold like none other. The contrast of the bright blue alpine lake with the golden trees was such an amazing treat to work with, and this fall engagement session is easily one of my favorites of all time! Brenda and Brandon are just the sweetest, goofiest couple together and made our jobs ridiculously easy by spending the whole evening immersed in chatting with each other and admiring the scenery together.
