Ok, friends. I know I start all our blog posts by saying that I had too many favorite photos and too many feelings, but it is the dang truth this time! This Mt Baker elopement was one of our favorite days we’ve ever been blessed to be a part of, and I’m gonna try really hard to go ultra-mush on you all, but I’ll probably fail.
There are all sorts of adventurous couples we work with, but I think Christina and Tanner are a whole other level of adventuresome. These two wonderful people contacted us about a month before their elopement, after a weird hiccup kept their original photographers from being able to shoot their elopement day. They came all the way from their home in Tennessee, across hundreds of miles road-tripping in their car with their two fur-babies to come to the wild mountains of the North Cascades to elope. They’d never been there before, but they drove up sketchy mountain roads, changed in a little tent along the side of a snowed-in trail, and embraced the wild weather of the Pacific Northwest with open arms for their elopement day.
They eloped on the slopes of Mt. Baker in the middle of a freak rainstorm. The florals by Rusted Vase were a downright work of art, and Kate from Tapestry Event Co planned the most amazing ceremony and her laughter and warm hugs made the day even brighter. Christina looked beyond stunning in her sweet and simple Wear Your Love gown, and her hair and makeup held up great to the weather thanks to the babes at Olive & Opal Beauty. Their two dogs, Loki & Riley ran all around the mountain playing and frolicking in the rain while Christina and Tanner said their vows surrounded by sweeping views of rainclouds and the North Cascades. Even though Mt. Baker hid in the clouds all day, we had more than enough gorgeous views with the swirling fog and hills peeping through them all day.
After wandering through groves of insanely green fern, moss, and pines, they had their first dance under the shelter of a huge, old tree and ate their Office inspired wedding cake out of the back of their car and watched the rain pour down around them. We loved this day and this sweet, unflappable couple so much. They trusted us with such treasured memories on short notice, and with the utmost kindness and grace. Their rainy, Mt Baker elopement was crazy, wild, so much fun, and we were all soaked to the bone and smiling by the end of the day. We’re super sad they live all the way in Tennessee because we definitely want to hang out with them (and their adorable pups) all the friggin time.
