These two wonderful people were going to throw an amazing wedding, I knew it from the moment I first spoke to them on the phone. Not just because Kari is actually a wedding & event coordinator as her day-job, but because they are both the kind of people who put so much love & care into everyone they meet, and they wanted their wedding to have a cozy, outdoor, destination feel. They picked Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop as their venue, not just for the gorgeous, 360 degree views of the North Cascades, but because it’s where they had first met, years ago while on internships at the Lodge. They had their ceremony a few feet from where they first met, and Sam wrote his wedding vows on the same paper napkin Kari had scribbled down her digits on years before. After the ceremony, we nabbed some more portraits at sunset while the most gorgeous storm-clouds gathered over the mountains, and we all ran inside the reception tent before the rain really started to pour. Despite planning on a mostly outdoor reception, everyone crowded in to the dance floor laughing and we had an amazing celebration anyway. They danced the night away to the tune of the seriously amazing Shaggy Sweet Band while the rain & wind poured down outside, and everyone munched on donuts and late night pizza. Sam & Kari inspire everyone around them, and we were so lucky to get to spend their wedding day documenting just how kind & caring they are to each other in a beautiful place that was so integral to their story.
