We were originally planning on hitting up the North Cascades for Shelby & Jonathan's engagement session, but a huge rain front rolled in a few days before, blanketing pretty much the entire state in torrential rain. So we moved the shoot up by a day, and scoured every single weather report to try and find a location that wouldn't be sopping wet for these two!
Luckily, they were game for a sunrise elopement and driving way the heck out to Mt St Helens! It's really one of our favorite locations, and it was probably the only place in Washington that wasn't completely soaked. So we met up with them in the early, pre-dawn hours, climbed a ton of stairs to a great viewpoint, and hoped for the best.
While the mountain didn't come out for a while, the gorgeous morning fog created some amazing colors in the sunrise, and the mountain did eventually show up!!! After that we drove a little ways further to a sweet little waterfall with an amazing cave nestled into the hills besides St Helens. The entire morning we didn't see another soul, and we all basked in the sunshine we'd fought so hard to find!
